First Impressions
The Motiv Tribal Fire shows up in a bold color combination of red and gold pearl. The heart of this model is the symmetric Halogen Core, which stands out with a high RG of 2.550 and a moderate differential of 0.037. The shell is the Fusion Pearl Reactive coverstock, brought to an extreme high gloss out of the box with a 5000 grit LSP finish. The very high RG lets the core rev up extremely late, while the smooth cover should let the ball glide safely through the heads and save up major traction for the backend.
Comparison
Compared to the original Motiv Tribal, the Tribal Fire picks up noticeably later and offers a considerably more angular, snappier reaction at the breakpoint. Against the Storm Hy-Road Pearl, the Tribal Fire produces a hard-hitting motion in the dry, snapping aggressively toward the pins at the breakpoint. As soon as the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up, the Tribal Fire benefits enormously from its pearl cover. It needs friction to show off its dynamics.
On the Lanes
The Motiv Tribal Fire finds its preferred use on medium to light lane conditions. It's the perfect choice if you need a ball on broken-down patterns that slides easily through the heads and generates an aggressive hook toward the pocket. The late reaction helps you avoid missing the breakpoint from deep inside. The ball should maximize carry through its sharp drive. On extremely heavy oil, however, this ball is often too skiddy.
