First Impressions
The Storm Rocket shows up in an extremely bright Orange and Black hybrid color combination. The heart of this model is the symmetrical Booster Core, which features a medium 2.540 RG and a solid 0.046 differential. The cover is the traction-heavy R2S Hybrid Reactive coverstock, brought to a high shine out of the box with a 1500-grit polished finish. The moderate RG lets the core rev up very definitely, while the polished hybrid cover should keep the ball gliding very safely through the heads and still build reliable traction in the midlane.
Comparison
Compared to the Storm Sky Rocket, which uses a pure pearl cover, the hybrid version grabs minimally earlier and offers a considerably more stable, steadier reaction at the breakpoint. Against the Storm Hy-Road, the Rocket creates a very similar, moderate motion on medium lanes with a slightly more defined hook at the end. Once the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up, this ball is extremely effective. It uses the friction perfectly to react powerfully yet under control.
On the Lanes
The Storm Rocket's preferred home is medium lane conditions. It's the perfect choice if you need a ball on broken-down patterns that slides easily through the heads and creates a steady hook toward the pocket. The hybrid reaction helps keep you from overthrowing the breakpoint. The ball should secure carry through a clean entry angle. On heavy fresh oil, however, this ball is often too slick.
