First Impressions
The Motiv Rebel Tank comes in an extremely plain, black solid look. Inside sits the symmetrical Halogen Core, which features a high 2.550 RG and a moderate 0.037 differential. The outer layer consists of the DMX Urethane cover, sanded to a 4000 grit LSS finish out of the box. This combination of a late-rolling core and the adapted urethane shell should make the ball start up extremely early, yet skid through the heads extremely controlled and smooth on dry lanes. It provides perfect hold without overreacting.
Comparison
Compared to the Motiv Tank, which uses a more classic urethane, the Rebel Tank offers noticeably more length and a minimally more agile backend reaction thanks to its pearl/urethane blend ratio. Against the Storm Pitch Black, the Rebel Tank delivers a similarly flat flare potential, but often skids a touch longer. Once the transition on the lane sets in, the Rebel Tank pushes the oil onto the dry boards. It ignores the dryness better than reactive balls and delivers an extremely smooth hook.
On the Lanes
This ball reaches its full potential on extremely dried-up lane conditions or extremely short patterns. Thanks to the urethane surface, it reads the boards predictably and preserves the manageable energy of the Halogen core. If you have to play very direct lines on dry patterns, the Rebel Tank provides the necessary control without shooting unpredictably past the pocket. Carry is moderately affected by the smooth motor. For oily lanes, however, the ball is completely unsuitable.
