First Impressions
The 900 Global Chemical X arrives in a striking Purple and Green Solid color blend. At the heart of this model beats the symmetric Pod Core, which carries a low RG of 2.490 and a comparatively moderate differential of 0.035. The outer layer consists of the S57 Solid Reactive coverstock, sanded to a 4000 grit Abralon finish out of the box. This combination of a rev-happy core, low flare potential and a moderately rough solid shell should get the ball revving early while generating an extremely smooth, quiet motion through the midlane.
Comparison
Compared to the 900 Global X, which is a bit rougher at 2500 grit, the Chemical X offers a marginally longer skid phase and an even gentler reaction at the breakpoint. Against the Storm IQ Tour Solid, the Pod core delivers a somewhat tamer change of direction. When the transition sets in and the lane builds up uneven friction, the Chemical X benefits enormously from its flat core dynamics. It doesn't tend to jump off dry spots uncontrollably, but instead smooths those differences out.
On the Lanes
The 900 Global Chemical X is best suited to lane conditions with medium oil volume or to demanding, flat sport patterns. If you're a stroker or tweener, it gives you the ability to play the boards very directly, since the surface minimizes unexpected reactions. The steady drive toward the pocket should deliver reliable carry, especially when absolute accuracy is required. Once the lane gets extremely wet, however, the ball's low differential can make it react too weakly.
