First Impressions
The Motiv Revolt Havoc comes in an extremely menacing gray and black solid color blend. At the heart of this model beats the powerful symmetric Vanquish core, which features a low RG of 2.470 and a massive differential of 0.056. The outer layer consists of the extremely strong Helix Solid Reactive coverstock, roughed up out of the box with a 3000 grit LSS finish. This combination of an early-rolling engine and a strongly gripping shell should have the ball building up massive traction in the heads and delivering an extremely heavy, controllable midlane reaction.
Comparison
Compared to the Motiv Covert Revolt, which also has a solid cover, the Revolt Havoc bites noticeably earlier thanks to the Helix cover and offers a considerably more massive overall reaction in oil. Against the Storm Phaze II, the Revolt Havoc delivers an even more dominant flare potential due to its higher differential. Once friction on the lane increases and the transition dries up the front part of the lane, however, the extremely strong solid surface inevitably loses energy quickly. The hook is enormous in the heads but flattens out considerably on the backend.
On the Lanes
The Motiv Revolt Havoc is ideally suited to lane conditions with extremely high oil volume. For strokers and tweeners, it offers the option of playing stable lines on freshly oiled patterns, since the surface finds immense traction. The strong, heavy drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry, as the ball practically plows through the pins. As soon as the lane dries up, though, the early traction can cause the ball to hit the pins extremely flat. In those moments, an immediate ball change is advisable.
