First Impressions
The Brunswick Ultimate Nirvana shows up in a striking Red, Blue and Silver Pearl color combination. Inside sits the powerful asymmetric Nirvana Ultra Low RG Core with a 2.477 RG, an extremely high differential of 0.054 and an intermediate differential of 0.013. The outer layer consists of the ECS (Enhanced Composite Segmentation) Pearl Reactive cover, polished to a high gloss out of the box. This combination of an extremely early-rolling core and a low-friction shell should let the ball glide effortlessly through the heads and develop an explosive, massive reaction in the backend.
Comparison
Compared to the Brunswick Absolute Nirvana with its matte solid cover, the Ultimate Nirvana offers noticeably more length and a far more angular backend reaction. Against the Storm Snap Lock, the asymmetric core of the Ultimate Nirvana delivers extremely similar weight distribution and backend power. Once the transition on the lane sets in and friction on the boards increases, the pearl cover of the Ultimate Nirvana takes aggressive advantage of the developing dryness. The hook is extremely asymmetric and hard-hitting.
On the Lanes
This ball reaches its full potential on medium to heavy lane conditions. Thanks to the pearl surface it reads the boards late, but saves the massive energy of the Nirvana core for the breakpoint. When bowlers start playing deeper lines, the Ultimate Nirvana delivers enough reaction to handle steep angles into the pocket. Carry benefits from the enormous motor. For very dry lanes, however, the ball is clearly too strong and uncontrollable.
