First Impressions
The Columbia 300 Rally arrives as the newest addition to the high-performance segment of the Columbia 300 lineup and follows in the footsteps of the successful Speed series. Visually, the ball stands out with its striking color combination of royal blue, lime green and silver, which creates an eye-catching swirl effect as it rolls down the lane. At the heart of the Rally works the proven Shifter core, an asymmetric design with impressive numbers: at 15 pounds, the ball has an RG of 2.478, a differential of 0.050 and an intermediate differential of 0.015. This core configuration produces an early and powerful roll on the lane. The outer shell consists of the HK22C Formula 1 Hybrid coverstock — a combination of the latest hybrid reactive technology with Cohesion additives. Out of the box, the Rally comes with a 500/2000 Siaair Micro Pad surface, which gives the ball plenty of traction on oilier lanes. This combination of a strong asymmetric core and a surface with bite makes the Rally a ball with high energy potential for medium to heavily oiled lanes.

Comparison
Compared to other balls in the Columbia 300 series, the Rally shows a clearly distinct motion profile. Against the original Speed series, the Rally offers more control through the midlane and a more consistent finish. Compared to balls with symmetric cores, the Rally shows earlier and more predictable hook thanks to its asymmetric Shifter core, especially on medium to heavily oiled lanes. The Rally is characterized by an unusually smooth motion pattern — it reads oil early but retains enough energy for a controlled finish at the end of the lane. While other balls with a comparable surface may react too aggressively to friction, the Rally shows a remarkably smooth transition from the oil into the drier part of the lane. That makes it especially valuable when precise control and consistency are required. The Rally's carry is also notable: through its early and continuous hook it creates a controlled entry angle that reliably produces good pin action without reacting overly aggressively. In some respects the reaction resembles the Hypnotize, but with the characteristic Columbia 300 feel.

On the Lanes
The Rally proves to be an especially versatile ball for a wide range of players and lane conditions. It shows its strengths primarily on medium to heavily oiled lanes, where its early roll and controlled backend reaction come into their own. If you are looking for a consistent, controllable hook without the ball getting too aggressive, the Rally offers ideal characteristics. Rev-dominant players will appreciate the muted reaction to friction, since the ball does not react excessively sharply when it hits drier parts of the lane. Speed-dominant players can use the Rally effectively to create more friction and consistent hook potential without the ball losing its energy too early. The Rally especially shows its strengths during lane transition — when the oil changes and moves around. It responds predictably to those changes and lets you maintain the optimal entry angle with small adjustments in position and angle. By reducing ball speed, hook potential can be increased without the ball becoming too aggressive. If you want even more backend reaction, a light surface adjustment to around 4000 grit or the addition of a light polish can fine-tune the reaction profile. The ball retains its fundamental characteristics even after extended use, however, which makes it a reliable companion for a variety of lane conditions. With its balanced ratio of early roll and controlled finish, the Rally establishes itself as a versatile all-rounder in the high-performance segment.
