First Impressions
The Storm Snap Lock stands out with its striking Indigo, White and Copper Pearl color combination. Inside sits the powerful asymmetric RAD-X Core with a 2.480 RG, an extremely high 0.054 differential and a 0.018 intermediate differential. The outer layer consists of the R3S Pearl Reactive cover, polished to 1500 grit out of the box. This combination of a very quick-revving asymmetric core and a smooth surface should let the ball clear the heads effortlessly and react massively and sharply in the backend. The design is built for maximum asymmetry and backend power.
Comparison
Compared to the original Storm Lock with its strong solid cover, the Snap Lock offers noticeably more length and a far more angular backend reaction. Against the Storm Alpha Crux, the Snap Lock's asymmetric core delivers an extremely similar weight distribution, but the R3S Pearl cover gives it a cleaner skid through the heads. Once the lane goes through transition and friction on the boards increases, the Snap Lock's pearl cover takes extremely aggressive advantage of the developing dry. The hook is sharp and explosive.
On the Lanes
This ball reaches its full potential on medium to heavy lane conditions. Thanks to the pearl surface it reads the boards late, but it saves the massive energy of the RAD-X core for the backend. Once players start moving into deeper lines, the Snap Lock provides enough reaction to handle steep angles into the pocket. Carry benefits from the enormous core, as the ball develops strong drive through the pin deck. On very dry lanes, however, the ball is clearly too strong and can easily overreact past the breakpoint.
