First Impressions
The Pyramid Force shows up with an aggressive color mix of Black, White and Red Solid. Inside beats the asymmetric SG 19.5 Asymmetric core, which carries a 2.49 RG, a 0.050 differential and a 0.020 intermediate differential. That core is wrapped in the GPS Navigational ATX Solid coverstock, dulled to a 2000 Abralon finish. These specs position the Force as a high-performance ball for heavy oil. In combination with the rough cover, the strong asymmetric core should make the ball grab extremely early and produce a massive, angular move toward the pin deck.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Pyramid Antidote, which uses a symmetric core, the Force shows a clearly stronger and more asymmetric reaction at the breakpoint. Compared to the Storm Alpha Crux, the Force behaves very similarly, with the Force's high intermediate differential producing an extremely quick transition from skid into hook. Once the transition sets in during the course of a game and friction increases on the outside boards, the strong solid surface of the Force loses energy quickly. It needs a solid oil base in the front part of the lane to maintain its dynamics all the way into the pocket.
On the Lanes
The Pyramid Force was developed specifically for use on heavily oiled lane conditions. It lets you generate the hook needed to cross boards effectively if you have lower ball speed or a low rev rate. The pronounced asymmetric core should optimize carry through an extremely steep entry angle. For dry or medium conditions, however, this ball is overqualified; it burns up its energy too early and runs the risk of hitting the pins weakly. The Force is a pure weapon for fresh, heavily oiled tournament patterns.
