The Ebonite Game Breaker 3 was released in January 2018 and continues the tradition of one of the most dependable ball lines in the sport. Finished in a plain but professional black-and-purple look, this ball relies on the proven symmetrical Enhanced V2 core. With specs of 2.48 RG and a 0.048 differential (at 15 pounds), it is designed to rev up quickly and produce controlled dynamics. The key update over its predecessors is the GB 12.7 hybrid coverstock, which was formulated noticeably stronger to provide more traction. Out of the box the ball comes with a dull 500/2000 Abralon finish, which underlines its purpose for higher oil volume and creates noticeable friction on the lane.
Comparison Compared to the Game Breaker 2 Phenom, the Game Breaker 3 offers a stronger overall motion thanks to the updated hybrid shell and reads the midlane even more intensely. It fills the gap created by more modern, heavier oil films without losing the predictability typical of the line. Placed next to the Storm Phaze II, the Game Breaker 3 shows a somewhat rounder and more continuous motion, while the Phaze II often makes a more pronounced change of direction at the breakpoint. Compared to the Ebonite Matrix, the Game Breaker 3 offers better continuation through the pins thanks to the combination of the V2 core and the GB 12.7 cover, since it is less prone to simply skidding straight through heavy oil. Compared to weaker balls such as the Ebonite Destiny Solid, the Game Breaker 3 is clearly earlier in its reaction and covers more boards.
On the Lanes The Ebonite Game Breaker 3 is conceived as a classic benchmark ball for medium to heavier oil conditions. It should give you a reliable answer as to how much oil is actually on the lane, since its reaction stays extremely stable and predictable. For tournament bowlers it is often the first ball out of the bag to read a pattern. The hybrid cover provides enough traction in the heads without getting uncontrollable on the backend, which makes it especially valuable on sport patterns. If you throw the ball fast, you'll benefit from the early rotation of the core, which helps find the pocket reliably. On typical house shots it allows a controlled game through the middle, but it should be swapped for a pearl ball as soon as the transition dries up the midlane and the ball loses steam too early.
