BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
Released in August 2018, the Motiv Jackal Hunt is a rare treat for collectors and connoisseurs, since it was an "overseas release" produced primarily for the Asian market. Technically the ball is an absolute heavyweight: it uses the asymmetric Predator V3 core, a further development of the legendary V2 core. With a 2.47 RG, a 0.055 differential and a 0.019 intermediate differential (at 15 lbs), this engine ranks among the strongest Motiv has ever built. All of it is wrapped in the Coercion HV2 Solid Reactive coverstock, which already made waves on the Jackal Rising. The factory finish of 2000 grit LSS (Laser Scan Sanded) makes it immediately clear: this ball was built to dig into oil, not to slide.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Motiv Jackal Rising (released in January 2018), which is widely available in Europe and the USA, the Jackal Hunt is a close relative but often comes across as a touch more aggressive on the backend. Both use the Coercion HV2 shell and similar core numbers, yet international releases are often produced with slightly altered filler materials or cover thicknesses in order to generate more hook on the frequently oily lanes in Asia. Bringing the Motiv Jackal Ghost into the comparison, the Hunt reads the lane considerably earlier. The Ghost (Coercion HFS) is somewhat cleaner through the heads and more rounded, while the Hunt (Coercion HV2) picks up earlier and shows an overall stronger total reaction on heavy oil. It plays in a similar league to a Brunswick Kingpin or Storm Sure Lock.
On the Lanes
The Motiv Jackal Hunt is a heavy oil specialist. It is the perfect choice for tournament players who run into "oil floods" or have to play very long patterns. Its strength lies in traction: it doesn't ignore the oil in the front part of the lane (heads) but uses it to build up rev rate in a controlled way without burning up. It is ideal for establishing a line on fresh lanes when other balls are still sliding ("hydroplaning"). As soon as the lane dries up, however, this ball is usually too strong and burns too much energy, which leads to flat hits. If you're looking for a ball that nothing can stop and that offers maximum security in oil, you'll find an exclusive tool here.
