BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Brunswick Kingpin Rule, released in January 2019, is a statement of pure power and was designed to take "rule" over the heaviest oil. Visually, the ball shows up in a striking solid color combination of chestnut brown, orange and white, and the rough 500/2000 Siaair Micro Pad finish immediately signals: there's no skidding here. Inside works the proven Kingpin Ultra Low RG Core. This asymmetric core is a technical heavyweight with a 2.483 RG, a 0.055 differential and a 0.020 intermediate differential (at 15 lbs). Those numbers stand for maximum torque and the earliest possible rotation. The decisive upgrade, however, is the ECA-XR solid coverstock (Enhanced Composite Adhesion – Xtreme Recovery). This chemical formula was developed to maximize traction in oil without giving up the energy needed for pin impact. Naturally, DynamiCore technology is built in here as well, providing superior energy transfer and better durability.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original Brunswick Kingpin, the Kingpin Rule goes one step further. The ECA-XR cover is a more aggressive evolution that makes the Rule read even earlier and cover more boards overall than its predecessor. Set against the Brunswick Kingpin Max, which was also an "oil monster," the Rule differs in the "recovery" aspect of the cover. Where the Max rolled extremely early and sometimes looked a bit flat off the backend, the Kingpin Rule offers an improved continuation of motion through the pin deck. It is Brunswick's counterpart to the Hammer Statement Solid or the Storm Sure Lock: a ball that practically soaks up the oil. Against an asymmetric pearl ball like the Kingpin Gold Special Edition, the Rule is the complete opposite: it serves to flatten out the lane and create traction, while the Gold takes care of length and snap.
On the Lanes
The Brunswick Kingpin Rule is designed exclusively for heavy oil patterns and long sport patterns. It is the ultimate "snow tire" and should be the very first ball you consider on a freshly oiled lane when you notice that weaker balls don't want to hook. Its massive surface and strong core keep it from sliding through the breakpoint ("blow past the breakpoint"). It is especially valuable if you throw the ball fast ("speed dominant") and often struggle to create enough friction, or if you're looking for a safe, arcing line to the pocket on a flood of oil. As soon as the lane starts to dry up, though, the Kingpin Rule becomes counterproductive; it would burn up energy too early and hit the pins without any power. It is a specialist for volume, not an all-rounder for house use on dry lanes.
