First Impressions
The 900 Global Ordnance comes in an eye-catching Sky Blue/Midnight Blue color combination and belongs to the Preferred 600 line. The ball features a Shrapnel Symmetric core with a 2.47 RG and a 0.043 differential. The symmetric core construction gives the Ordnance a low RG and a medium total differential, while the S70 Solid reactive coverstock is finished with 4000 Abralon. Flare potential sits at 4-5, in the medium range. The release date was July 16, 2019, and the ball is meant to replace the entire Ops series in this price segment.
Comparison
The Ordnance shows a smoother move at the breakpoint than the 900 Global Flux and noticeably more hook overall than the Ordnance Pearl. Many of its traits recall the 900 Global Xponent and the original Ordnance, both past favorites - even though those balls used different cores and coverstocks, their overall shapes and motions were very similar. It turned out to be a bit stronger than expected, but it pairs well with the 900 Global Black Ops - typically you start with the Ordnance and move to the Black Ops once the ball grabs too early, without drastic positional adjustments. Its predictability and control make it a reliable alternative to other symmetric solid balls of the past.
On the Lanes
The Ordnance can serve as a benchmark ball for any league or tournament player. It shined on medium test patterns, but was also very useful on heavy oil patterns and sport patterns. The solid suits medium to heavier patterns without any surface change and performs well in sport conditions, where sharp backends and control are decisive for good results. Both player types saw plenty of traction in the oil thanks to the dull factory finish. One standout quality is how extremely forgiving it is on inaccurate shots - the ball still drives powerfully through the pocket with good carry potential. The combination of the Shrapnel Symmetric core and the S70 Solid cover creates an early, smooth roll with lots of hitting power. Ideal if you're looking for a controllable, predictable first ball out of the bag that works on league patterns as well as more demanding oil patterns.
