First Impressions
The Motiv Jackal Legacy comes in an attractive black and red color scheme and pairs the proven asymmetric Predator V2 core with the new Coercion MXC Solid Reactive coverstock. The technical specs list an RG of 2.47 at 15 pounds along with a .054 differential and a .015 mass bias. The factory surface is 2000 grit LSS. The Predator V2 core with its super low RG should generate maximum revs and track flare, while the Coercion MXC cover is the strongest coverstock in the Motiv lineup.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Motiv Jackal Ghost, the Legacy shows a similar overall shape but with noticeably more total hook. Next to the Motiv Forge Flare, the Legacy offers a sharper backend move while at the same time reacting in a more controlled fashion. The Jackal Ghost is somewhat weaker but not weak, the Alpha is smoother and its cover doesn't react as quickly as that of the Legacy or the Ghost. The Legacy should behave more forgivingly on the same heavy oil patterns than the more forward-rolling Forge Flare.
On the Lanes
The Jackal Legacy was developed to handle the heaviest oil conditions a bowler can face. Speed-dominant players in particular should benefit from the combination. For balanced players the ball fits on fresh patterns where the Ghost runs too clean, and when higher rev players are striking with the Ghost. Rev-dominant players should always keep the Legacy in the bag so they have something available regardless of oil volume. The ball should be powerful, deliver enormous traction on heavy oil, a smooth motion and a controllable shape that minimizes over/under reaction on wet-dry lane conditions. It should handle the heaviest conditions while remaining playable on medium conditions thanks to its gentle transition from skid to hook to roll, with a climbing type of strong backend motion.
