First Impressions
The Motiv Purple Tank shows up in an eye-catching purple design and was introduced on March 10, 2021 as the newest addition to the legendary Tank product line. The cover is the new Purple Solid Urethane coverstock, which comes out of the box with a very dull 1000 grit LSS finish. Inside, the Flux Symmetric core works with a 2.57 RG and a low 0.015 differential. Unlike the more recent Microcell Polymer variants, this is a more traditional urethane formulation. Unlike its predecessors, the Purple Tank features a true urethane coverstock that builds on Microcell Polymer technology but eliminates the oil absorption issues.
Comparison
The Purple Tank uses its energy earlier and offers a smoother backend reaction than the Motiv Tank Blitz, Desert Tank and Covert Tank, with the Purple Solid Urethane behaving predictably at the breakpoint. Compared to the Motiv Desert Tank, the Purple Tank seems less willing to float and takes on the shape of a strong urethane ball. In test conditions the breakpoint was closer to the bowler than with the Desert Tank. On heavier patterns the Purple Tank had limited success, since the Purple Solid Urethane coverstock does not work the lane as hard as Microcell Polymer Frixtion or MXC Coercion. The new cover should show the incredible control along with the aggressive traction known from earlier MCP balls such as the Tank Blitz.

Urethane bowling balls have become a standard tool for difficult oil patterns, short sport conditions and for high-rev players looking for control when reactive resin is too much. The Motiv Purple Tank is an excellent fit for tough oil patterns, short sport conditions and big rev players who need control. The Flux core is the proven answer for wet-dry conditions when you have to play flatter angles. If you have a higher rev rate, you'll get the best overall reaction out of the Purple Tank, since the extra revs let you create more margin for error and get the most out of this urethane coverstock. The ball is used especially on fresher patterns with plenty of oil up front and flying backends, and it offers ultimate backend control for drier conditions or oil patterns. Predictability is the name of the game here — a move to the right with a bit of friction makes any bowler happy.

Urethane aber nicht wirklich
Mein erster Versuch mich mit "Urethane" auseinanderzusetzen, obwohl Motiv kein traditionelles Urethane sondern eine andere Art von Oberfläche produziert. Zusammenfassend: Guter ball, extrem kontrollierbar aber für meine damalige Spielweise und Umdrehungen einfach überhaupt nicht passend. Ich würde die Tank Reihe aber jederzeit wieder ausprobieren, wenn Motiv nur nicht so teuer wäre 😀
