BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Storm Lock comes in a striking black-and-white look with red accents and uses an entirely new combination of technologies. At its heart is the new asymmetric RAD-X core with a low 2.48 RG, a high 0.054 differential and an intermediate differential of 0.018. The innovative GI-15 Hybrid Reactive coverstock arrives from the factory with a 3000-grit Abralon surface, which gives it excellent traction in oil. With over 6 inches of flare potential, the ball should be capable of producing impressive ball motion.
Comparison
The Lock is probably the most angular asymmetric ball Storm has ever produced, and it behaves differently than typical asymmetrics such as the Storm Crux, Virtual Gravity Nano or Sinister. Its ball motion resembles the Storm Paradigm with a "hockey stick" move — it gets to the breakpoint and then makes a sharp, straight move to the pocket. The combination of the RAD-X core and the GI-15 cover should create a ball motion that Storm hasn't had in its premier line since the original Virtual Gravity. If you were disappointed by the Storm Crux because it didn't give you enough hook or backend angularity, you may find the reaction you're looking for in the Lock.
On the Lanes
The Lock offers plenty of traction and still a big move on the backend of the lane, and bowlers of all styles can benefit from that strong motion. It's especially well suited if you throw the ball fast with lower rev rates, or if you're looking for a true heavy-oil ball that doesn't already hook in the first 10 feet. On heavy oil patterns the ball shows its strengths, while shorter patterns and lower oil volumes make it hook too early for most styles. Particularly noteworthy is its ability to glide easily through the heads, retain energy and then generate enough angle at the breakpoint. Surface adjustments such as Storm Step 2 at 1500 grit with polish can give the ball more length while preserving the backend performance.
