BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Altered Reality shows up in an eye-catching salmon-colored design and comes out of the box with a 1500 grit polished surface. Technically, this ball is built on the proven Disturbance Asymmetric core from the original Reality, wrapped in the S84 Response Pearl Reactive cover. The specs at 15 pounds show a 2.49 RG, a 0.052 differential and a 0.018 intermediate differential. The Disturbance core uses a unique modified scutoid shape with a hexagonal base and a pentagonal apex, where the elimination of the sixth side creates perfect asymmetry. This high-performance pearl was positioned as a 2022 release from 900 Global and should provide new high-performance pearl options in the 900 Global line. Comparison
Head to head, the Altered Reality is noticeably longer than the original Reality, running cleaner through the heads and saving more energy for the backend. Testers describe a stronger change of direction at the breakpoint than the Storm Volatility Torque, which allows for more room and better carry. Compared to the Storm Wolverine, the Altered Reality also shows more hook and a stronger reaction to friction. The ball positions itself as a longer, sharper version of the Storm Parallax Effect with similar controllable strength. Tested against the Storm Zen, the Altered Reality comes across as the asymmetric version with a typically quicker response to friction and a stronger "jerk." Performance should match the original Storm Volatility in terms of overall hook. On the Lanes
The Altered Reality is designed primarily for medium to heavy oil conditions and broadens the range of the Reality series. The polished surface allows moderate length with strong backend motion. Bowlers describe it as a ball with possibly the strongest midlane action of any polished ball they have ever thrown. The reaction is characterized as big, round and predictable. The ball successfully fills the mid-defined slot in many arsenals. The S84 Response Pearl technology with up to 20% larger pores should ensure maximum traction even in heavy oil. Note, however, that as of March 30, 2022 the ball is banned for USBC National Tournaments, though it remains USBC approved. If you are rev-dominant, you'll need considerably more oil than a standard house shot provides.
