BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The 900Global Zen Karma, released in February 2022 as an exclusive "Overseas Release," is basically an old friend in new clothing. Visually it comes across as understated and classy in a black pearl color scheme ("Black Pearl"), which makes a clear contrast to the colorful original Zen. Technically, however, it is a direct twin of the legendary 900 Global Zen: inside, the massive Meditate Symmetric Core spins with a 2.49 RG and a 0.051 differential (at 15 lbs). The shell is the S77 Response Pearl Reactive coverstock, finished out of the box with a 1500-grit polish. This combination of a huge symmetric core and a clean pearl cover is one of the most successful recipes in modern bowling history.
Comparison Head to head, the Zen Karma behaves almost identically to the original magenta-teal 900 Global Zen. It offers the same, almost magical ability to glide through the heads and still not slide through the midlane, before pulling through the breakpoint extremely strongly and continuously. Differences are marginal at best, and more likely attributable to the color pigments (black balls are often perceived as reading a touch earlier). Compared to a 900 Global Zen Master (solid), the Karma is noticeably longer and more angular. Compared to a Storm Phaze 4, the Karma/Zen often feels somewhat "bigger" in the core and more controllable, while the Phaze 4 reacts even more sharply to dry ("flip").
On the Lanes The Zen Karma is an absolute "must-have" ball for medium oil conditions and typical house shots. Since it has the same characteristics as the original Zen, it is the ultimate ball for opening up the lane. It lets you move deep left and throw the ball way right, confident that the massive core will bring it back. It generates exceptional pin action, because the big core retains a lot of energy through the pin deck. It is perfect when benchmark solids hook too early but you don't want to drop down to weaker balls like a Burner or Hy-Road yet.
