BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
Released in May 2022 by California Bowling (SWAG), the Black Pearl Treasure continues the popular Black Pearl series with a visually classy variant. The ball impresses with a dark, mysterious "Black/Gold/Bronze" color scheme that gives it a premium look on the rack and on the lane. Technically, SWAG relies on the proven symmetrical Spear Core. This core is a real powerhouse for a symmetrical ball: with a low RG of 2.48 and a very high differential of 0.054 (at 15 lbs), it is designed to get into rotation quickly and develop massive flare potential. This strong engine is wrapped in a pearl reactive coverstock that comes polished to a high gloss out of the box. This combination of a rev-happy core and a smooth surface signals a classic "skid-flip" reaction: effortless glide through the heads and an explosive change of direction at the end of the pattern.
Comparison
Compared to the original SWAG Black Pearl (or the Bloody Ocean), the Treasure offers a somewhat better reaction to today's oil viscosities thanks to more modern additives in the pearl shell. Drawing the comparison to the market leader in this segment, the Storm Phaze V, the Black Pearl Treasure often acts a tick more aggressively in the backend due to its higher differential (0.054 vs. 0.051) and generates more angle. It is clearly stronger and more dynamic than an entry-level pearl such as the Roto Grip Hustle Wine. Compared to an asymmetrical pearl like the 900 Global Wolverine Dark Moss, the Treasure offers a similarly strong change of direction, but the symmetrical core makes it feel a bit smoother in the transition from skid into hook, which often makes it more predictable on house conditions.
On the Lanes
The SWAG Black Pearl Treasure is an ideal choice for medium oil and conditions marked by heavy transition. It plays to its strengths when the heads start to dry up and you need a ball that ignores that friction in order to react late. Thanks to the strong core, however, it is not a "fair weather ball" that slides away at the slightest bit of oil; as soon as it finds friction at the end of the pattern, it stands up aggressively. That makes it perfect if you like to play deep angles and throw the ball from the inside out ("inside line"). It delivers excellent carry, since the steep entry angle often drives the pins sideways out of the pocket.
