First Impressions
The Ebonite The One Remix, released in September 2022, marks the return of one of the most legendary ball lines in bowling history. At its heart sits the famous Centrex core, technically classified as asymmetric, which in 15 lbs comes in with a 2.466 RG, a 0.056 differential and a massive 0.027 intermediate differential. Those numbers produce an extremely early revving motion and enormous flare potential. This aggressive engine is wrapped in the GB 14.4 Solid Reactive coverstock. The distinguishing feature here is the finish: unlike the typical "snow tires" for heavy oil, the Remix does not arrive dull but with a 500/1000/2000 Siaair plus Crown Factory Compound finish out of the box. That polished surface on a solid shell allows the ball to glide cleanly through the heads despite the strong core and to store its energy for an explosive move at the breakpoint. The Teal, Purple and Violet color scheme pays tribute to the original and is very easy to track on the lane.
Comparison
Compared to the Ebonite Polaris, which acts as a classic heavy-oil ball with a dull surface, The One Remix offers noticeably more length. Where the Polaris reads the lane early and creates a round, controlled motion, the Remix uses its compound finish to react later and more sharply to friction. That makes it feel more dynamic and more angular into the pocket. Set against the popular Ebonite Game Breaker 4, the Remix plays in a completely different league in terms of overall hook. The Centrex core is substantially more dominant than the GB4's Enhanced V2 core, which means the Remix still gets around the corner in deeper oil where the GB4 is already reaching its limits. Against a Storm Phaze II, the Remix changes direction more quickly thanks to its asymmetry and generates more torque at the pin deck.
On the Lanes
The One Remix is ideally suited to medium to heavier oil patterns, but it shows its strengths above all when the really rough solids lose energy too early. Thanks to the compound finish it is not necessarily the first ball out on an extremely fresh, flooded lane; instead it shines once the heads have been broken in slightly, or when you need a bit more length without giving up the security of a big core. It lets you play deeper angles and cross boards, because the strong core prevents the ball from sliding in the oil while the cover supplies enough traction for the necessary backend hook. For tournament players it is a perfect complement, allowing you to keep moving left after your first ball and to maintain carry through steeper entry angles.
