BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Storm PhysiX Paint the Lanes Pink, released in October 2022 as a limited special edition supporting breast cancer research, immediately grabs every eye with its bright pink look. Under the striking shell works the proven asymmetric Atomic core, which with an extremely low 2.48 RG, a high 0.053 differential and a 0.017 intermediate differential (at 15 lbs) delivers enormous rev potential and torque. This powerful engine is paired with the NeX Hybrid Reactive coverstock. Unlike many strong asymmetrics, which are often sanded to a matte finish, this ball comes out of the box with the Reacta Gloss finish. That combination promises an intriguing mix of the aggressive chemical makeup of the NeX material and the length created by the polish.
Comparison
Compared to the Storm Infinite PhysiX, which uses the ReX Pearl coverstock, the Paint the Lanes Pink reads the lane a tick earlier, since the NeX formula offers microscopically more traction in oil than the ReX version. Even so, it is noticeably longer and more angular than the Storm Proton PhysiX, which with its rough NeX Solid surface revs up much earlier and produces a rounder overall motion. Against the original Storm PhysiX (NRG Hybrid, sanded), the Pink edition proves more agile in the backend thanks to the Reacta Gloss finish and stores more energy for the hit into the pocket instead of burning it up in the heads.
On the Lanes
This ball is an excellent choice for medium to heavier oil patterns that still demand a defined backend motion. The strong Atomic core provides enough stability to keep it from floating in the oil, while the polished hybrid cover helps it get through the heads cleanly once the fronts have been played on a bit. It works ideally as the first ball out of the bag on a typical house shot, or as a transition ball on sport patterns when pure solids hook too early and symmetric pearls are still too sensitive to oil. You get the security of a large asymmetric core along with the necessary "pop" at the breakpoint to successfully play deeper angles as well.
