First Impressions
The SWAG Swagger Bomb immediately catches the eye with its intense red coloring, which gives clear visual feedback on the lane. Under the hood works the symmetrical Crank3r core, which comes with a strikingly high RG of 2.576 and a differential of 0.045 (at 15 lbs). These numbers are unusual for a solid ball and point to a lot of length. The cover is made from the USY 2 Solid Reactive material, finished at the factory with a 3000-grit sand. This combination of dull finish and high-RG core creates a fascinating tension: the surface provides traction, while the core practically forces the ball to skid long through the heads before it releases its energy.
Comparison
Compared directly to a classic benchmark solid like the Storm Phaze II, the Swagger Bomb behaves completely differently. Where the Phaze II with its low RG revs up early and smooths out the lane, the Swagger Bomb offers noticeably more length and pushes the breakpoint further downlane. In its philosophy it is closer to balls like the 900 Global Burner Solid, but the USY 2 cover gives it somewhat more overall hook and bite in the oil. Against the big asymmetrical balls from the same house, such as the SWAG Big Bro series, the Swagger Bomb is far more controllable and less aggressive in its change of direction. It fills the gap for players who want a solid look without the ball going "dead" the moment the heads get dry.
On the Lanes
This ball is an excellent problem solver for medium oil conditions and typical house shots. Its greatest strength is the delay: when "normal" solid balls start to hook too early on the friction and lose energy, the high RG of the Swagger Bomb keeps it coming through the heads cleanly. The 3000 finish keeps it from getting too jumpy on the backend and instead produces a controllable, arcing path to the pocket. It works very well for the stage where the oil in the heads is thinning out but you don't yet want to switch to polished pearl balls and give up control. It's a strong option both for strokers who need help with length and for crankers looking for a ball that doesn't turn over right away.
