First Impressions
The Track T-Shark (Black/Purple/Mint) is a special "overseas" release that reached the international market in May 2023. Visually, the ball stands out with its unmistakable combination of black, purple and mint, which gives it a dynamic presence both on the shelf and on the lane. Technically, there's a powerhouse under the hood: the asymmetric T-Shark core (similar to the I-Core 2.0 design) delivers massive numbers with a low RG of about 2.48 and a very high differential of 0.057 (at 15 lbs). This is wrapped in the QR-12 Solid Reactive shell. Unlike typical "snowplow" solids, however, the surface comes with a Factory Compound Finish out of the box (through 500/1000/1500 Siaair). That signals right away: this ball is built to have traction while still getting cleanly through the heads in order to save its energy for a huge backend.
Comparison
Compared to the Track Paragon (Solid), which is also a strong asymmetric ball, the T-Shark behaves noticeably more lively in the back part of the lane. Where the Paragon digs in early and makes a very round, almost braking move, the T-Shark uses the compound finish to store energy longer and then turn more aggressively. Against a symmetric benchmark ball like the Storm Phaze II, the T-Shark offers a more defined "kick" at the breakpoint thanks to its asymmetric core (with 0.015 intermediate differential) and stands up more quickly. It's a kind of hybrid between the stability of a solid and the angularity of a pearl, similar to the Track Archetype, but with a slightly more controllable cover blend.
On the Lanes
The Track T-Shark is ideally suited to medium to heavier oil patterns on which you still have to generate length. It's not a ball for extremely dry lanes, since the strong core would start up too early there. Its strength lies in the transition phase or on fresh house patterns with a bit more oil volume in the middle: it confidently ignores the first few meters of the lane (thanks to the compound), but reads the midlane reliably (thanks to the solid cover) and then practically explodes into the pocket. If you feel your pearls are too slick but your dull solids fizzle out too early, the T-Shark is the perfect "Goldilocks" solution for power and control.
