BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Motiv Supra Rally arrives in May 2023 as a specialized solution for drier lane conditions and situations where length and a quick response are called for. Visually it comes in a striking black and teal pearl combination. Technically the ball is driven by the new Quadfire V2 core, which shows a 2.57 RG and a 0.040 differential (at 15 lbs). These core numbers point to a design that stores energy for a long time in order to release it at the end of the lane. This is paired with the Propulsion DRS Pearl Reactive coverstock. The surface comes out of the box with a 5500 grit Laser Scan Polish, which helps the ball skid cleanly through the heads and respond to friction only late. The goal of this package is clearly defined: maximum length and a strong, angular direction change in the backend.
Comparison
In a direct comparison with the Motiv Supra Enzo, the Supra Rally is noticeably more aggressive at the breakpoint. While the Supra Enzo was known for its rounder, more controllable arc, the Rally delivers a considerably sharper reaction off the dry boards. Unlike the High Impulse core of its predecessor, the newly developed Quadfire V2 core provides a bit more length and a faster direction change as soon as the ball reaches friction. Compared to a ball like the Motiv Top Thrill Solid, the Supra Rally also generates significantly more total motion and angle, yet stays cleaner through the first few feet than stronger balls such as the Venom Shock. It thus fills the gap for players who want more hook than entry-level balls provide but need less traction than benchmark balls.
On the Lanes
The Supra Rally is designed primarily for lanes with little oil or for the late stages of a tournament, once the heads have already been played in ("transition"). If you throw at lower ball speed, you'll appreciate how effortlessly the ball glides through the heads without burning up energy too early. For rev-dominant players it offers the length needed to play deeper lines without the ball rolling out too early. Once it hits the dry backend, it develops a fast and defined hook that optimizes the entry angle into the pocket and thereby improves carry. It is less suited to fresh, oily lanes, since there it can tend to slide past the breakpoint. Its strength clearly lies in the "skid-flip" category, when the task is to open up the lane and play steep angles.
