BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Storm Real Absolute is a specialized "overseas" release that reached the international market in May 2023. Visually striking with its fuchsia, violet and coal color scheme, it hides a significant technical change from the US standard model beneath the cover. While the core remains identical – the Sentinel Core with a 2.48 RG and a 0.050 differential (at 15 lbs) – the big difference lies in the coverstock. Instead of the R2S Deep Hybrid formula, the NRG-2 Pearl Reactive coverstock is used here. This cover comes with a 1500-grit polish out of the box. The combination of the "single density" asymmetric core, known for its willingness to rev, and the higher-traction Nano pearl cover aims to generate more stability in oil without sacrificing the length of a polished ball. One distinctive detail is the "Grape Punch" scent.
Comparison
In a direct comparison with the regular Storm Absolute (US release Jan. 2023), the Real Absolute is noticeably earlier and rounder. The original's R2S Deep Hybrid cover is extremely clean through the heads and reacts very sharply to friction ("skid/flip"). The Real Absolute, on the other hand, uses the NRG-2 Pearl formula, which contains microscopic nano-spikes. As a result, the ball reads the boards in the midlane better and is not as sensitive to over/under reactions. It comes across as more controllable on the lane than the standard Absolute, yet still more aggressive in the backend than a benchmark solid like the Storm Phaze II. Compared with the later Storm Absolute Power (solid), however, the Real Absolute offers considerably more length and stores more energy for the hit into the pocket.
On the Lanes
The Real Absolute is an ideal weapon for patterns with medium to higher oil volume, where pure clean pearl balls (such as a Hy-Road Pearl) would slide too far. Thanks to the nano technology in the coverstock, it cuts through the oil in the heads better than conventional pearls, but retains enough energy thanks to the polish to still carry the corners even at steep angles. It shines especially during the transition phase, when you have to move your line inside but still need traction in the oil to hit the breakpoint reliably. If the normal Absolute was too twitchy or too late for you at the end, this is the more stable, higher-traction alternative.
