BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
Released in June 2023, the DV8 Chill brings an updated version of an absolute fan favorite back to the market with the Diva 2.0 core. Visually the ball is a perfect match for its name: a cool blend of white, light blue and purple gives it a frosty look. Technically it's a strong symmetrical ball with a 2.495 RG and a 0.051 differential (at 15 lbs). Those numbers produce an early revving motion and healthy flare potential. The special part is the cover: DV8 uses the Inciter Max Flip Solid Reactive formulation here, finished at the factory with 500/1500/3000 Siaair. The "Flip" in the name of a dull solid shell suggests the chemistry was developed specifically to store energy despite the coarse surface and to create a strong move at the end of the pattern.
Comparison
Within the DV8 lineup, the Chill positions itself as a modern successor to balls like the DV8 Knock Out Bruiser. In a direct comparison, though, the Chill is cleaner through the heads and offers noticeably more "pop" and change of direction on the backend than the more uniformly rolling Bruiser. Using the industry benchmark Storm Phaze II as a reference for symmetrical solids, the Chill shows comparable traction in oil but often feels a bit more dynamic and less "sluggish" at the breakpoint. It's more aggressive on the backend than a Radical Sneak Attack Solid, yet offers more control in the midlane than pure pearl balls. Compared to asymmetric powerhouses like the DV8 Brutal Collision, the Chill provides a rounder, more predictable path down the lane that is less prone to overreaction.
On the Lanes
The DV8 Chill is the classic benchmark ball for medium to heavy oil. It's the ideal first choice on fresh house shots or medium sport patterns to read the conditions. Thanks to the 3000 finish it doesn't slide away in the oil, while the "Flip" component of the shell makes sure it still generates enough angle when you're forced to play the pocket from further inside. It smooths out the transition beautifully: strong enough to grab in the oil, but not so aggressive that it turns uncontrollably the moment it touches dry boards. That makes it an extremely versatile tool for league bowlers looking for one ball for almost every situation.
