BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Ebonite The Great One, released on September 17, 2026, features a striking color combination of purple, violet, and teal. Inside the ball is the proven Centrex Symmetrical Mass Bias core, which at 15 pounds boasts a low RG of 2.466, a high differential of 0.056, and an asymmetric mass bias of 0.027. This powerful core is wrapped in the advanced HK22C2 - GB 15.1 Solid coverstock, a reactive blend featuring specific additives. Straight from the factory, the surface is finished with 500, 1000, and 3000 Siaair Micro Pad. This combination of a strong asymmetric engine and an aggressive cover is designed to provide excellent mid-lane read and continuous, strong motion in the backend. Visually and performance-wise, this ball builds on the legacy of the famous The One series, aiming to deliver top-tier performance.
Comparative Analysis Within its own product family, the Ebonite The Great One stands out from older models thanks to its improved cover technology, offering noticeably more traction in the oil. When using the Storm Phaze II as a classic reference, the The Great One shows a much more defined and aggressive hook at the breakpoint due to its asymmetric core. While the Phaze II is known as a symmetric benchmark ball with a smooth, rounded motion, the The Great One generates higher flare potential and a sharper change of direction as soon as it encounters friction. Compared to extremely heavily sanded asymmetric balls like the Brunswick Mindset, the The Great One offers slightly more length through the front due to its 3000-grit finish before unleashing its energy. This makes it a bit more versatile when lanes are not flooded with oil.
Practical Application The ideal environment for the Ebonite The Great One is medium to heavy oil conditions. Due to the early grip of the solid cover, it serves excellently as the first ball out of the bag on fresh patterns. Players with higher ball speeds will benefit from the traction, as the ball is less likely to skid past the breakpoint. For high-rev bowlers, the strong core provides the ability to play deep lines across the inner boards, trusting that the ball will retain enough power for a strong carry when it hits the pocket. However, as transition sets in and the front boards dry up, the aggressive surface might burn up energy too early, leading to flat hits. In such situations, switching to a ball with a polished surface is highly recommended. Overall, the The Great One positions itself as a reliable ball for heavier conditions.
