The Roto Grip Attention 78/U is an asymmetric urethane bowling ball originally introduced as an overseas release, offering a rare combination of a highly aggressive core and a traditional urethane cover. Visually, it presents itself in a simple, deep black color. Technically, it is powered by the proven Momentous Core, which is recognized as one of the most aggressive asymmetric cores in Roto Grip history. Featuring an RG of 2.50, a differential of 0.053, and a mass bias of 0.011 at 15 pounds, this core provides tremendous flare potential. The core is wrapped in the XS 78 Solid Urethane cover, which is finished at 1000-grit straight from the factory. This specific material blend was designed to meet modern hardness and stability regulations while ensuring early readability on the lane. Comparative Analysis When compared to traditional symmetric urethane balls like the Storm IQ Tour 78/U, the Roto Grip Attention 78/U displays a noticeably stronger change of direction due to its asymmetric core. While the Storm IQ Tour 78/U is known for a very smooth, continuous, and highly controllable motion, the Attention 78/U generates significantly more flare and produces a more pronounced Hook. If placed next to an aggressive reactive ball from the same core family, such as the Roto Grip Attention Star, the Attention 78/U reacts much earlier and saves less energy for the end of the lane. The urethane cover dramatically smooths out the Transition, making it less jumpy than its reactive counterparts, yet it still offers a higher Carry potential than classic symmetric urethanes from other manufacturers, such as the Hammer Purple Pearl Urethane. Practical Application The Roto Grip Attention 78/U is ideally suited for short to medium oil patterns and conditions where the Heads provide sufficient oil, but the end of the lane requires a calm and controllable response. Bowlers with a higher rev rate will particularly benefit from the early Friction of the XS 78 Solid Urethane cover without losing sight of the Pocket. The strong asymmetric Momentous Core helps to compensate for the typical energy loss seen in traditional urethane balls, noticeably improving Carry upon pin impact. When reactive balls react too nervously to the Transition on drying lanes and symmetric urethanes fail to drive the ball sufficiently towards the Pocket, this ball perfectly bridges the gap. The combination of early traction and asymmetric Hook potential is intended to provide a predictable yet hard-hitting ball motion even on difficult, flat oil patterns.
