First Impressions
The 900 Global Viking Conquest arrives in a striking Purple, White and Gray colorway, its marbled look accented by the gold Viking Conquest logo on the surface. As a heavy-oil-oriented ball from 900 Global, the model combines two central components: the asymmetric Strobe A.I. Core and the new Reserve Blend 94 Solid coverstock — according to the manufacturer the strongest cover formulation the company has released since the introduction of its current rating system. The factory surface ships at 2000 grit Abralon, and the durometer value comes in at 74–76.
The specs for the 16-pound version list a 2.50 RG, a 0.050 differential and a 0.014 intermediate differential. At 15 pounds the numbers are 2.51 RG, 0.052 differential and 0.016 PSA, giving the ball a high flare potential. The Strobe A.I. Core works with an elevated RG and a single-density weight block that should make the ball read the midlane emphatically while still allowing a pronounced backend move. The market debut took place on June 26, 2026; pricing should land in the upper premium segment of the 900 Global lineup at German retailers, in the range of comparable top-tier heavy-oil models such as the 900 Global Harsh Reality.
Comparison
Within its own product line, the Viking Conquest clearly separates itself from the 900 Global Viking, which uses the same Strobe A.I. Core but pairs it with the weaker RB 90 Hybrid cover. While the original Viking runs cleaner through the heads and is positioned more as a transition ball on medium to medium-heavy oil, the Viking Conquest should grab noticeably earlier, create more friction and stay more controllable in higher oil volumes thanks to the stronger cover formulation. Both balls could therefore complement each other well in one arsenal.
Compared to the Storm Hyperdrive Solid, the Viking Conquest should react more strongly overall and offer a more continuous, more controlled shape, while the Hyperdrive Solid delivers somewhat less total hook. Against the Iron Max from Storm — an established benchmark for aggressive heavy-oil balls — the Viking Conquest lands in a comparable category, but depending on perception it may sit a touch below the Iron Max and show a slightly smoother, less angular transition. The Zero Mercy Solid from Storm should offer a bit more ball in total, which makes the Viking Conquest the more control-oriented alternative in that direct comparison. In character, the reaction is also reminiscent of the Equinox Solid from Storm — a strong, heavy-rolling heavy-oil ball with a pronounced midlane presence.
On the Lanes
The Viking Conquest is designed primarily for fresh, oil-heavy lane conditions. The combination of RB 94 Solid cover and 2000 grit finish should build traction already in the heads without the ball rolling out there, and allow a controlled, continuous transition through the midlane with an assertive backend toward the pocket. On long or high-volume patterns the ball should be a candidate as the first option out of the bag, but it can also be used on typical house shots as long as there is enough oil in the heads. On lanes that have already transitioned heavily or dried up, there is a tendency to lose energy early — in those scenarios a switch to weaker equipment options is advisable.
In terms of player profile, the main beneficiaries are bowlers with medium to high ball speed and a moderate to higher rev rate who are looking for a big, controlled hook without an overly angular move. If you have lower speed or a low rev rate, check the conditions carefully, because the ball could react too early on drier boards. To adapt it to different scenarios, the surface can be adjusted accordingly: a smoother polish provides more length and a sharper backend, while a duller finish further increases the early friction. Within an arsenal, the Viking Conquest positions itself as a heavy-oil benchmark at the very top of the lineup, taking on the role of the first or second ball in demanding oil conditions, complemented for example by the smoother original 900 Global Viking as the follow-up piece for later stages of the block.
