Inside works the dynamic Pancake core, which with a 2.69 RG and a 0.019 differential ensures a very clean motion through the front sections of the lane. The Polyester cover is specifically tuned to store the ball's energy extremely efficiently. The nature of the surface with a polished finish massively supports this trait, letting the ball glide effortlessly through the heads without building friction early. Visually it's a real eye-catcher and immediately conveys that this model was designed primarily for later and sharper direction changes. Comparing the Spare Shot to the Ebonite Maxim, the glaring differences in backend reaction stand out immediately. The Ebonite Maxim tends to read a bit earlier, while the Spare Shot holds its energy a decisive fraction longer and then reacts noticeably more aggressively to the dry area. That trait makes it a perfect complement in the arsenal when the Maxim starts losing energy into the pocket or entering too flat. Although both balls are aimed at lighter oil patterns, the Spare Shot offers a noticeably more dynamic angle.
