First Impressions
The Seismic Equalizer immediately catches the eye with its striking color combination in Lagoon and Orange. It was designed specifically as a powerful solution for heavy oil conditions. Inside sits the asymmetric Tenaci core, developed as a particularly strong engine for high dynamics. The specs clearly back up that strength: an RG value of 2.50 produces medium-early roll, while the high 0.052 differential paired with a strong 0.026 mass bias guarantees enormous flare potential. This core is wrapped in the Infensus SR2 solid cover. So the ball doesn't lose its hold even on very oily lane conditions, it ships from the factory with a dull 2000 Abralon surface. This combination of an aggressive asymmetric core and a traction-heavy cover should let the ball glide safely through the heads while grabbing early enough in the midlane to build a massive move toward the pocket. The model aims to serve as the strongest option in your arsenal when regular balls generate too much length on oil.
Comparison Comparing it to an established high-oil-volume ball like the Storm Proton Physix reveals interesting parallels and subtle differences. Both models use extremely strong asymmetric cores and dull solid covers to handle heavy oil. The Storm Proton Physix tends to roll a touch earlier and rounder, which gives it a strongly arcing character. The Seismic Equalizer, on the other hand, uses its particular core to conserve the stored energy slightly longer before it meets friction at the end of the oil pattern. As a result, the Equalizer often creates a more abrupt, sharper change of direction than models built primarily for pure control. Compared to a moderate benchmark solid like the Motiv Venom Shock, the difference in overall strength is glaring. Where the Venom Shock stands for a smooth, controlled motion on medium patterns, the Equalizer digs deep into the oil and generates a massive hook. That trait makes it enormously effective on fresh oil, but limits it as soon as the lanes dry up.
On the Lanes In practice, the Seismic Equalizer is an absolute specialist for long, heavy oil patterns. It is exactly the right tool when the oil volume is high and weaker equipment simply can't find traction anymore. Thanks to its strong cover it digs in reliably and prevents an unwanted overshoot at the breakpoint. If you throw the ball fast or have a lower rev rate, you'll benefit especially from this trait, since the rough surface and the asymmetric core effectively help get the ball into a safe, early roll. Once the oil pattern changes after a few games and transition sets in, the ball tends to find friction too early in the heads and burn up its energy too soon. At that point you generally have to move your feet considerably farther inside, or it may make sense to switch straight to a weaker model. As long as the oil is fresh and heavy, though, the ball offers excellent carry and transfers its high energy into the pins without compromise. To soften the extremely aggressive nature of the ball when needed and make it usable on medium conditions as well, the surface can be adjusted with polish without any trouble.
