BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Visionary Glowing Amulet from 2001 is a bowling ball that falls into a very specific niche, both visually and technologically. In its normal state, the ball shows up in a bright neon yellow. The absolute standout feature of the surface, however, is the phosphorescent property of the specially developed Hard Urethane cover. Thanks to this patented material mixture, the ball glows intensely for several hours even in complete darkness after a short charge from a light source. According to the manufacturer, the special chemical additives can produce slight color variations and light streaks in the cover, though these should not affect its integrity. Under the hood sits the symmetrical Gargoyle Inner Core, which is additionally fitted with a Spherical Wrap. The technical numbers for a 15-pound ball are a relatively high RG of 2.610 and a moderate differential of 0.035. The ball shipped out of the box with a 1500 polished finish. This construction of a hard, glossy polished urethane surface and a dynamic two-piece core was originally conceived to offer the durability and predictability of a spare ball while keeping more technological reserves than an ordinary plastic ball.
Comparison Comparing the Visionary Glowing Amulet with a classic modern urethane ball like the Storm Pitch Black reveals fundamental differences in ball motion and intended use. While the Storm Pitch Black is built for a rather early reaction and creates a very predictable arcing motion, the Glowing Amulet skids significantly longer through the heads. The extremely hard surface of the Amulet prevents early traction in the oil, so it reacts only very late and only with enough friction. Drawing a further comparison to traditional, pure polyester spare balls such as the Brunswick TZone, the real advantage of the two-piece construction becomes apparent. Unlike the pancake cores of conventional spare balls, the core of the Glowing Amulet offers noticeably higher flare potential. This dynamic core structure should allow the ball to still develop a moderate hook in extremely dry conditions and to control the entry angle to the pocket more effectively. That places the ball right in the gap between completely passive spare balls and the more traditionally rolling urethane options.
On the Lanes The Visionary Glowing Amulet is primarily intended for extremely dry lane conditions or as a versatile and adaptable spare ball. If you have a very high rev rate, often called a cranker, this ball can be an ideal first choice when modern reactive shells react too aggressively and completely uncontrollably to the outside boards even in heavy transition. Thanks to the high RG of the Gargoyle core and the extremely smooth surface, the ball stores its forward energy exceptionally long. It uses the friction only at the very end of the oil pattern to find a calm and very late path into the pocket. For players who want to use the ball exclusively for spares shot straight, it can be precisely tailored through specific drilling layouts. Static weight can be balanced out and the dynamic potential of the core almost entirely minimized, which supports a dead-straight path without any stray hook. If it is used instead as a regular strike ball on heavily played, dry lanes, the core should help maintain carry at the pin deck without the ball rolling out too early or losing its hitting power to too much friction. All in all, the Visionary Glowing Amulet positions itself as a highly specialized tool for bowlers who are looking for maximum length on burned-up lanes, need predictable ball motion, and at the same time want a robust alternative to the pure polyester ball for their spares.
