BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Visionary Ogre Pearl, released in January 2007, is a distinctive addition to the proven Ogre series and was developed specifically for a late, clean ball motion. Visually, the ball comes in a striking color combination of green and silver pearl swirls. Inside works the in-house symmetrical Ogre core, a special dual-density design fitted with a modified cap to efficiently manage energy transfer. The specs show a comparatively high radius of gyration of 2.59 and a moderate differential of 0.029. Those numbers point to a ball that strongly conserves its rotational energy in the front part of the lane and only transitions into a roll phase late. The cover is an in-house pearl reactive material. The surface is polished to a high shine out of the box. This preparation should ensure that the ball glides through the heads extremely effortlessly without building friction early. The interplay of the low-friction pearl cover and the rev-friendly symmetrical core aims to create maximum length down the lane and store energy for a pronounced but easily controllable change of direction at the end of the oil pattern.
Comparison
Drawing a comparison to the popular Storm Phaze II reveals massive conceptual and structural differences. The Storm Phaze II uses a strong symmetrical core paired with an extremely tacky, dull solid cover. On the Phaze II this results in very early traction in the oil and a consistently smooth, strongly arcing motion. The Visionary Ogre Pearl behaves in exactly the opposite way through the heads. Thanks to its polished pearl cover, it almost completely ignores dry spots in the front part of the lane and stores its torque considerably longer than the Phaze II. When the oil on the lane breaks down and the Storm Phaze II tends to grab too early and run flat into the pins, the Ogre Pearl shows its true strengths. When it meets friction in the backend, the symmetrical core responds with a sharp yet still steady move toward the pocket. Unlike strongly asymmetrical pearl balls, the Ogre Pearl doesn't tend toward unpredictable, snappy overreaction. It therefore offers a much more forgiving reaction at the breakpoint, while in direct comparison to the Storm Phaze II it delivers exactly the additional length that is essential on burned-up or shorter oil patterns.
On the Lanes
The absolute specialty of the Visionary Ogre Pearl is lane conditions with light to medium oil volume as well as heavily played house shots. Because of the extremely clean length the polished cover generates through the heads, this ball is an excellent tool for the later games of a tournament or a long league night. When the lane transition sets in strongly and the oil in the front part is gone, the ball lets you hold your line longer without the ball moving into an uncontrolled hook too early. If you have lower ball speed, you'll benefit enormously from this trait, since the ball doesn't burn up early. For bowlers with high rev rates, the Ogre Pearl offers the flexibility to play the ball far out over the boards, with the moderate differential creating enough flare potential to bring it back to the breakpoint reliably. A central performance feature is the consistent carry. Since the ball transports its energy very efficiently all the way to the pin deck, it hits with high dynamics and mixes the pins flat. This should noticeably minimize the risk of leaving corner pins on drying lanes. Overall, the model presents itself as a highly dependable option for bowlers looking for a clean, late ball motion when classic reactive balls react too strongly to the reduced amounts of oil.
