First Impressions
The Visionary Gladiator Rage impresses with a classy solid and pearl hybrid look built for performance. Inside works the asymmetric Gladiator core with a low 2.490 RG and an extremely high 0.055 differential. For the cover, Visionary relies on a polished hybrid reactive coverstock. This combination of a very early-revving core and a smooth shell should let the ball clear the heads effortlessly and save its energy for a punchy, asymmetric kick on the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Visionary Gladiator Empire, the Rage is marginally stronger through the heads and offers an extremely tame yet asymmetric backend motion thanks to the slightly adjusted cover. Against the Storm Snap Lock, the Rage delivers very similar length and builds an almost identical, extremely strong hook at the breakpoint. When friction on the lane is high and transition dries up the front part of the lane, the Rage preserves its energy exceptionally well and hits massively.
On the Lanes
The Visionary Gladiator Rage is ideally suited to lane conditions with medium to heavy oil volume. For strokers and bowlers with moderate ball speed, it opens up the option of playing wider lines, since the cover saves energy. The massive drive toward the pocket should deliver solid carry. On fresh, extremely heavy oil, however, this ball can lack traction because of the polished finish and then calls for a bit of surface adjustment.
