The Visionary Raven Attack presents itself as an extremely controllable and strong solid ball. At the heart of this bowling ball works the symmetrical Ogre HDC core, which has already proven itself in other models from the brand. At a ball weight of 15 pounds, this core delivers a medium RG of 2.530 and a considerable differential of 0.049, which points to solid flare potential. This very drilling-friendly engine is wrapped in the Implex II Solid coverstock. To ensure extremely early and reliable traction in oil, the surface comes out of the box with a rough 500/1000 Abralon finish. This combination of the dull, reactive solid cover and the dynamic symmetrical core should make the ball read the lane very early and build a strong roll phase in the midlane. Instead of a sharp break at the end of the oil pattern, this construction produces a very round, heavy and extremely predictable arc toward the pocket.
Comparison Viewed comparatively, the Visionary Raven Attack shows a motion profile that is firmly rooted in its lineage and clearly positions it as a benchmark ball for wet conditions. Taking the original Visionary Raven as an internal reference, which is equipped with a particle pearl cover, the Attack version picks up considerably earlier thanks to the dull solid cover and behaves much calmer at the breakpoint. Compared to the Visionary Raven Invasion as well, which uses a pearl cover and is designed for more length, the Raven Attack works significantly earlier in the heads and smooths out the lane profile across the various boards to a greater degree. Compared with a modern, established benchmark ball like the Storm Phaze II, similar areas of use emerge. Both balls use symmetrical cores for a steady motion. Due to its very rough 1000 surface, however, the Visionary Raven Attack often builds friction a touch earlier still and delivers a somewhat rounder, heavier arc. When the lane moves into transition over the course of the game and the oil breaks down, the Implex II Solid cover tends to lose energy faster than balls with more polished shells, since it starts working extremely early in the pattern.
On the Lanes Because of its construction, heavily geared toward control and early traction, the Visionary Raven Attack is designed primarily for higher oil volumes and fresh house shots. It shines through its predictability especially on flat sport patterns where excessive backend reaction gets punished. The rough 1000 Abralon finish reliably ensures that the ball navigates safely through wet oil in the heads without going into skid. That makes it an ideal tool if you prefer a smooth, calm motion or if you naturally need help getting the ball into a roll early. The steady buildup of hook in the midlane produces a very strong but flat entry angle into the pocket, which favors consistent carry. As the oil volume decreases, on lanes with a lot of friction or on heavily played boards, this extremely aggressive setup reaches its limits. In those scenarios the ball builds friction too early, burns up its kinetic energy on the front half of the lane and hits the pins flat. It is therefore advisable to use this ball mainly on fresh oil, or to adjust the surface with polish if needed so it glides a bit more easily through the front sections of the lane.
