Inside the ball sits the symmetric Fireball core, which is known for its consistency and predictability. In a 15-pound ball, this core carries an RG of 2.519 and a differential of 0.039. Those specs place the ball in the lower-to-middle performance segment, with the focus on controlled energy release. The coverstock is HK22 - GB 11.2 Pearl, finished at the factory with a 500, 1000, 1500 Siaair Micro Pad and then polished with Crown Factory Compound. Bringing HK22 technology into this price bracket should provide improved color depth and increased response to friction. With the combination of a moderate differential and a polished pearl surface, the ball is designed to get through the heads effortlessly and save its energy for the back part of the lane pattern. The design aims to deliver clean rotation through the first two thirds of the lane before the change of direction begins.
Comparison
Compared directly to other models within the Ebonite family, the Fireball Purple/Gold sits below the Game Breaker 5, since its polished surface should react considerably later to the oil. Where a GB5 is intended more as a benchmark piece on fresh oil patterns, the Fireball Purple/Gold should play to its strengths once the volume in the midlane starts to go away. Compared to the original Fireball (red/gold), the Purple/Gold version may show a slightly sharper reaction at the breakpoint thanks to the HK22 formulation and be less prone to rolling out early. Looking at products from other manufacturers, the ball can be placed in a similar category as the Storm Tropical Surge or the Rhino series from Brunswick Bowling, with the Fireball Purple/Gold tending to offer more hook potential and a more aggressive backend drive than typical entry-level balls thanks to its stronger core and the HK22 cover. On the Lanes
The ideal environment for the Ebonite Fireball Purple/Gold is light to medium oil conditions as well as lanes where the heads are already well broken down.
