First Impressions
The Ebonite Mission Reload, released in October 2025, brings one of the most legendary names in bowling history back to the lanes. Visually it shows up in a striking "Red/Black/White" swirl that immediately recalls the brand's glory days. Technically, Ebonite relies on the piece that started it all: the Mission 1.0 Asymmetric Core. This core is defined by a low 2.48 RG, a high 0.050 differential and a moderate 0.013 intermediate differential (at 15 lbs). Those numbers point to early rev-up combined with controllable asymmetry. The core is paired with a modernized version of the GB (Game Breaker) coverstock, often designated GB 14.0 or similar, which comes polished from the factory. The goal of this configuration is to adapt the classic Mission motion to modern oil volumes.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original Ebonite Mission (Solid), the Mission Reload shows noticeably more length thanks to the polished surface and more modern chemistry, and it stores more energy for the back part of the lane. While the original was known for its extremely early hook, the Reload glides more cleanly through the heads but retains the typical heavy roll characteristic in the midlane. Against the Ebonite The One Remix, the Mission Reload is rounder and less jagged at the breakpoint. "The One" tends to react more angularly (skid/flip), while the Mission Reload throws a smoother, continuous arc into the pocket. Compared to the Game Breaker 4, the asymmetric core makes the Mission Reload more dynamic and better able to handle higher oil volumes.
On the Lanes
The Mission Reload is an excellent choice for medium to heavier oil conditions. Its greatest strength lies in the combination of control and power. It's the ideal ball when symmetrical balls don't generate enough hook, but extremely aggressive asymmetrical balls (like a Storm Proton Physix) burn up too early. The polished finish gets it through the heads well, but thanks to the low RG it reads the midlane early enough not to slide through. It offers enormous carry, since it drives the pins very low and flat through the deck. It's especially strong on house shots with a bit more oil in the middle or once the transition begins, because it forgives speed mistakes well and reliably finds its way to the pocket.
