First Impressions
The Motiv King Venom, released in November 2025 as an exclusive international release (primarily Japan/ABS), breaks with the tradition of the classic Venom series. Visually, the ball shows up in a regal combination of "Black Solid," "Sapphire Solid," and "Purple Pearl." The technical surprise hides on the inside: instead of the usual Gear core, the Sigma core does the work here, and with a 2.47 RG and a clearly increased differential of 0.047 (at 15 lbs) it produces substantially more flare potential than its smaller siblings. This stronger engine is paired with the Propulsion MXV Hybrid Reactive coverstock, finished at the factory with a 2000-grit LSS surface. This matte hybrid shell in combination with the rev-happy core signals right away that this "King" intends to generate considerably more traction and overall motion than any previous Venom.
Comparison
Compared directly to the legendary Motiv Venom Shock, the King Venom is in an entirely different class of aggressiveness. While the Shock is known for a smooth arc thanks to its lower differential (0.034) and the controlled Gear shape, the King Venom delivers a much more dynamic motion through the Sigma core and the higher differential (0.047), and digs deeper into the oil. Against a Motiv Mythic Jackal it is more controllable and less angular at the breakpoint, but it offers more overall hook than a Motiv Pride Dynasty. It fills exactly the gap between the moderate benchmark balls and the big asymmetrics like the Jackal series, pairing the typical Venom length with the power of a high-performance core.
On the Lanes
The King Venom is the ideal choice for medium to heavier oil conditions where a normal Venom Shock would be too weak or would burn up too early. Thanks to the 2000-grit surface it reads the midlane early enough not to slide through, while the hybrid blend and the Sigma core save enough energy for the backend. It works excellently as the first ball out of the bag on fresh lanes when you're looking for a strong but still predictable reaction. If you love the "Venom look" but have often struggled with a lack of carry or too little flare, you'll find the missing puzzle piece here for oilier conditions.
