BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Hammer Scorpion Strike shows up in a striking color scheme of black, magenta and indigo and slots seamlessly into the successful Scorpion series. As a mid-performance ball, it pairs the proven LED 3.0 core with the innovative HK22-Semtex Pearl coverstock, a combination Hammer is using in the Scorpion line for the first time. With a 2.485 RG at 15 pounds and a 0.045 differential, the symmetric core provides a solid foundation for controllable reactions. The surface is polished to a high gloss out of the box with 500, 1000, 1500 Siaair and Factory Compound, which gives the ball its characteristic length. The HK22 technology is based on an engineered nano micellular phase separation technology, which should improve the transparency and clarity of the cover. The Scorpion Strike was released on July 11, 2024 and sits within the Hammer lineup below the strong asymmetric skid/flip balls as well as Hammer's Hazmat, while at the same time reacting stronger and more angular than Hammer's Vibes series.
Comparison The Scorpion Strike is considered the ball with the most pronounced skid/flip reaction Hammer has introduced in this mid-performance line so far. Compared to the Scorpion Sting, the Strike is cleaner through the heads and delivers a slightly sharper shape at the breakpoint. While Hammer's Scorpion Low Flare, with its Semtex Hybrid cover and the modified LED 3.0 Low Flare core, offers a controlled, arcing motion with lower flare potential, the Strike goes for maximum length and a distinctly more aggressive backend reaction thanks to its pearl coverstock construction. The combination of the HK22 base and pearl additives lets the ball glide effortlessly through the heads and store its energy for a powerful change of direction. In a direct comparison with the Ocean Vibe series, the Strike reads earlier while reacting stronger, whereas against the original Scorpion with its Semtex Hybrid cover it shows a noticeably later and more angular motion. As an ideal complement to the Scorpion Low Flare, the Strike gives bowlers a seamless step when the Low Flare grabs too early and generates too much hook.
On the Lanes The Scorpion Strike is best suited to medium oil conditions and reaches its full potential especially when there is enough hook potential available from the lane. On longer patterns with more volume, the pearl surface can create too much length before the hook sets in, so a surface adjustment could be advisable in those situations. The ball plays to its strengths on typical house shots, where it can serve both as a benchmark option and as a step-down ball from more aggressive coverstock combinations. If you have higher axis rotation, you'll likely find this ball particularly versatile, while bowlers of all styles can benefit from the controllable reaction. The pearl characteristics make it possible to play direct down-and-in lines as well as to open up the lane under the right conditions. One key trait is the controlled reaction to dry areas – the ball should not overreact when it hits friction, which provides predictability. Through the transition of a session, the Strike allows precise adjustments, and small moves are usually enough to get back into the pocket. The combination of strong midlane reaction and continuous backend motion should deliver consistent carry and pin action. The Strike takes surface changes well, which opens up additional options for adapting to different lane conditions. As a value option in the mid-performance segment, the Scorpion Strike offers above-average performance for its price class and could suit bowlers looking for a dependable, angular reaction with controllable length.
