First Impressions
The Track 607A SE comes in a striking black, red and yellow color scheme and combines proven Track technology with some innovative updates. At its heart is a modified Legion core from the Track Temper, paired with the new SE6 GEN1 reactive coverstock. The specs show a low 2.48 RG, a moderate .045 differential and a conservative .007 intermediate differential. Out of the box the surface gets a 500, 1000, 2000 Abralon treatment followed by polish via the Powerhouse Factory Finish System.
Comparison
Track positioned the 607A SE strategically between the 505A and the 715A to fill a performance level bowlers were looking for between those two models. In practical testing the ball proved 2-4 boards stronger than the Track 505A on most patterns. The ball motion resembles the Storm Uprising from 2007, though with less angularity. Track later developed the 811A SE as a stronger version of the 607A SE, which confirms where the 607A SE sits in the mid performance segment.
On the Lanes
The SE6 GEN1 coverstock should deliver extreme angularity, making the ball a dynamic choice for the oil patterns of the typical house shots league bowlers face. If you're trying to open up the lane on light to medium oil volumes, the 607A SE gives you the right look. Testing frequently showed an end-over-end roll through the pins, which led to surprisingly good carry out to the 25th board. On heavier oil conditions or with carrydown the ball requires surface adjustments, since it is characterized as a flippy ball. Experts recommend taking it down to 4000 grit or lower for a smoother, more rolly reaction.
