First Impressions
The Roto Grip Exit, released in February 2025 as an exclusive international release (Overseas), kicks off the new Exit series. Technically, the ball comes across as a highly reactive pearl option for advanced players. Inside sits the newly developed Defense A.I. core, an asymmetric engine with a low 2.49 RG and a high 0.053 differential (at 15 lbs). On top of that, an intermediate differential of 0.024 generates strong torque. This powerful core is wrapped in the Hyper-Response II Pearl Reactive coverstock. Out of the box, the ball comes with a 1500-grit polish, giving it a shiny finish. This combination of polished pearl shell and strong asymmetric core promises a very clean run through the heads and an explosive reaction as soon as the ball reaches the dry boards at the end of the oil pattern. It looks dynamic and is designed to store energy for a late but violent change of direction.
Comparison
Compared directly to the later Roto Grip Exit Red (June 2025), which has a solid surface, the original Exit goes noticeably longer and more angular. Where the Exit Red reads the lane early and creates a rounded motion, the Exit (pearl) glides effortlessly through the oil in the heads and responds much more quickly to friction. A fitting comparison is the Roto Grip Attention Star: both balls are asymmetric pearls with plenty of backend potential. Thanks to the Hyper-Response II shell, though, the Exit often feels a tick more aggressive and snappier at the breakpoint than the Attention Star, which favors a somewhat rounder hook shape. Against a Storm Virtual Energy Blackout, the Defense A.I. core gives the Exit a slightly earlier rev-up in the midlane, while retaining a similarly steep entry angle character.
On the Lanes
The Roto Grip Exit is the ideal choice for lanes with medium oil volume or for the transition phase once the heads have been played in. It is perfectly suited to opening up the pocket and playing deeper angles, since it doesn't slow down too early in the oil but has enough power at the end of the lane to come back to the pocket even from wide angles. If you throw the ball at lower speed, it's an excellent option for generating enough length on fresh house patterns. Rev-dominant players will love the lightning-quick response to friction, which lets you move well left and throw the ball out to the dry outside edge. It is less suited to extremely long or heavy oil, where it risks skidding through the breakpoint; there the Exit Red or a Gem would be the better choice.
